PEN AND INK WORKS

During the1980’s pen and ink drawings became my signature work..  Beginning with illustrations for  “An Ebony Woman Poem”  (the slide show that never got funded) the work morphed into Kwanzaa cards and later, note cards. “The Black Arts Review” (newsletter) and “Essence” (magazine) were just some of the publications that matched my philosophies and commissioned my work.

The nature of printing at that time was much more economical in one color. Thus, pen and ink drawings became an easy response to the technology.  “Five Women Painting,” a limited edition series of affordable reproduction, was among the many works that I produced in that period.  Presently, the black and white series has been renamed to “Annie’s Mudd” after the ancestral color of my Mom.
